Not far from Timbuktu under the rule of religious extremists, Kidane leads a simple and peaceful life in the dunes, surrounded by his wife Satima, his daughter Toya and Issan, his little12 year old shepherd.
In town, the powerless inhabitants are subjected to the reign of terror of the jihadists who have hijacked their faith. An end to music and laughter, cigarettes and even football…
Women remain in the shadows and try to resist in a dignified manner. Improvised tribunals, taking place on a daily basis, make their sentences absurd and tragic.
Kidane and his loved ones appear to have been spared from the chaos in Timbuktu. But their fate is in the balance the day Kidane accidentally kills Amadou, the fisherman who laid into GPS, his favourite cow.
The time has come to face the new laws imposed by these intruders…
Meeting with the director from 8.40pm to 9pm
