FIFO2011... The sound of the didgeridoo... What a fantastic video! Esquisitely crafted, fantastically perfect representative imagery, charming demonstration and explanation of the instrument on the bustling city street, fascinating bush tour of it's amazing yet humble source, nice attribution to Djalu'... the precisie ecomony yet richness of this video presention are outstanding! Having seen many snippets of video along the way in my own endeavors at studying these instruments and how to play them, including some of Djalu's, Dophia's, and Wuduku's craftsmanship and artistry among my modest collection, this video is a stand out favorite that i enjoy replaying, admiring, and sharing with friends, too. I also found the video about the women who'd lived in isolation in the bush until quite recently and were discovered and befriended ahead of rocket missile testing in their remote area to be extremely interesting, and can't wait to see the full length film regarding same. Thank you for making such richly entertaining and educational material availavle! ~ Renee'

Hi,

I'd like to submit my documentary 'Bali - Island of the Dogs' to FIFO 2012.
I can't find the attached documents to submit.
Also does a film made in Bali qualify as a 'Production concerning Oceania'?
I would think so...

If so, please point me to the submission documents so I could enter this Festival.

Best Regards,

Dean Allan Tolhurst

Hi my name is Tim Huynh I am a ACM student at UH Manoa. I just finish a short documentary that screened at the Vietnamese International Film Festival. My question is do you only accept documentaries about or related to the pacific region. My documentary is in Vietnamese and is about my Vietnamese Uncle. Also, what is the surcharge to enter a film? Thank you

I belong to the Turtlecare group on the Sunshine Coast (volunteer) and we also have a small number of loggerhead turtles nest here each year. We work hard to protect the nests from the foxes and other predators. We also volunteered at MonRepos over the 2010-2011Xmas - New Year period for a week during holiday break (which encompassed the heavy rain and bad weatherduring the Bundaberg floods). We had the priveledge of gaining some knowledge from the man himself, Col Limpus.....and still in awe.

I would really like to acquire this DVD as I missed viewing this documentary on the ABC when it played. Would you please let me know where I can acquire a copy of this DVD.

Thanks

Regarding the comment; "It would be an adaptation of this Polynesian population facing a climatic crisis and its progressive shift towards a new social and religious organisation."
It baffles me why people want to rewrite history and place it in a box labelled 'benign gradualism'.
Tribal wars did happen, especially when there is a shortage of food. The chance of a devastating conflict occurs when there are two distinct groups fighting for the same resource. Easter Island had all these ingredients. There were the red haired 'long ears' who originated from Peru, building the classic Peruvian style Vinapu stone wall, dated at 400Ad, then there were the Polynesians from the more westerly islands. Oral history records these people living apart on the island, with little interbreeding, a classic situation that almost always leads to civil war once food gets scarce. DNA now shows these red heads are from an ancient Caucasian population extremely similar to the Basques. As Basque/ Brittany/Irish DNA shows isolation from Europe about 13,000 years ago, with a recombination 6,000 years ago - possibly their return of these people from America. The Clovis hunters who arrived in America at this time were the Solutreans from France/Spain according to tool similarities and are possibly the same people. Logic has it that remnants of this Caucasian group in America eventually found their way to Easter Island ~400 AD after conflict with incoming warlike people related to the Incas.
Please stop dumbing down history and let the truth unfold as it is far more interesting than benign gradualism claptrap.

Hi There,

I'm thinking of entering in the festival, Jan 2001. Can you please explain the term Broadcasting that you use in the application form. My question is, will my entry be broadcast on Television or is it more just to mean showcased at the event?

I have archive material in my documentary that I only have rights to broadcast a certain number of times.

Thank you

If you want to see a wonderful film during this festival, this is the one!!! It has a good human interest story, humour, poignancy, historical interest, fun and laughter, music. This film is different, and is certainly something special.
