Fifo Festival in Tahiti

Round tables

For the 2010 edition, 4 round tables are suggested:

Tuesday, January 26 from 14 to 16h
1. Assistance with regional audiovisual production

Each year FIFO shows that most of the footage about Oceania is directed by European or American directors and producers. In the region, apart from Australia and New Zealand, the Insular Pacific has great difficulty in producing its own footage because there is no budget for regional audiovisual production.

As well as national mechanisms for assistance for audiovisual production, is it possible to have a regional assistance fund?  Who for? Managed by whom? With what funding?

To initiate this discussion, FIFO has asked Elise Huffer from the CPS to produce a report with some prospects for the future.

Wednesday, January 27 from 14 to 16h
2. Coverage of the 2011 Pacific Games

With the Pacific Arts Festival, the Pacific Games are an important event for the region. These Games gather together all the Pacific countries and territories. How can this event be shared with the whole Oceania population? How can it be broadcast as widely as possible? These are the questions which will be raised by the managers of Pacific television.

Thursday, January 28 from 14 to 16h
3. Presentation of several regional projects

Several audiovisual initiatives have been developed in the region. In New Caledonia, the operation ’One short, one Movie’ will gather several directors around one theme. An Oceania sitcom project has been introduced by the CFI in Melanesia with the support of the European Community. Other projects have been developed elsewhere. The main protagonists of these projects will come to explain their projects.

Friday, January 29 from 14 to 16h
4. OFC Broadcast Partner Network – explanation of concept and advertising benefits

Discussion of OFC TV Strategy and possibilities for Oceania Broadcasters
Speech/Presentation on OFCTV.com from Johann
Discussions on potential FIFA Football content;
Distribution around broadcasters, sublicense costs or more content exchange
