The documentary maker, Phoebe Hart, has made a film about her voyage of self-discovery which has allowed her to clear any previous shame, to clear the family secret surrounding her bodily condition known as hermaphrodite and envisage her future. In spite of the clear refusal of her mother to be present in the film, Phoebe decides that she must complete her research, to find out more about her family, and to make contact with other people like herself. With the help of her sister and the support of her husband, she leaves in search of her real identity, in order to discover and accept herself.
