At the beginning of the 1930’s the Caledonian writer Jean Mariotti, aged 20 years old, left the colony and moved to Paris where he published his first books. New Caledonia is the sole subject and the inspiration for his books which came to fruition in a small two room flat in the heights of Belleville. They speak about this land that he loved so much, the men and women that he mixed with in his youth. After the war in 1947, Jean Mariotti returns to his native land. But is it too late?
